Accent-conversion is secretly also a noise canceler
At the user level, accent softening looks like conversion or filtering because the accented input voice is transformed into clear, intelligible speech at the output.
At the technological level, however, what is happening is strictly regeneration. Instead of modifying the original speech, the AI builds a brand-new voice track from scratch.
The technology used to generate this speech is Generative AI (Gen-AI), which is currently considered the state-of-the-art and best overall solution for accent conversion.
When using Gen-AI, an interesting byproduct occurs: the barking dog, the hum of the AC, and office chatter vanish. This does not happen because a separate noise filter was turned on; rather, it occurs because these Gen-AI models are trained exclusively on clean vocal tracks. They cannot generate a car horn, a clicking keyboard, or static—they only know how to create pure voice.
As a result, excellent background noise removal happens naturally simply because the AI only knows how to generate pure human speech.
